A round up of Local News in Redcar and Cleveland for Tuesday 28th June 2016.

There has been an angry reaction to the news that local MP Anna Turley has resigned her position in the Shadow Cabinet.

Anna resigned her post as Shadow Minister for Civil Society yesterday, stating in her resignation letter that she felt that the labour party leadership was not in touch with the hopes, the fears and the aspirations of her local constituents.

However many Zetland FM listeners have taken to our Facebook page to voice their reaction to Anna's resignation, with the majority voicing their disappointment at the decision.

Anna was one of more than 20 members of the Labour shadow cabinet who resigned their post, questioning Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn's performance during the EU referendum and his ability to lead the party.

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council is asking for the public’s views on a draft document that sets out the proposed long-term strategy for the borough.

The Draft Local Plan sets out a vision for how Redcar and Cleveland will be developed up to the year 2032. It explores proposals around housing, employment, retail and town centres, natural and built environment, and transport.

The consultation on the Draft Local Plan began yesterday and runs through to Monday 8 August, and members of the public have been asked to give their views.

Copies of the draft local plan are available to view at all libraries in the borough and online at www.redcar-cleveland.gov.uk/localplan

A pair of soap stars will be making an appearance at one of our areas pubs today.

Steven Arnold, who played Ashley Peacock in Coronation Street, and Rachel Wood who starred in Emmerdale, will be visiting the Cleveland Bay pub near Redcar East railway station to accept a cheque for the charity 'Victoria's Wish'.

Landlord of the Cleveland Bay, Russ Clark, and pub regular Andrew Rennard, took part in the Total Warrior challenge in Leeds at the weekend to raise funds for the charity.

Russ told Zetland FM it was a tough event.
