A round up of Local News in Redcar and Cleveland for Thursday 7th July 2016.

Police are appealing for information after a 13-year-old girl was assaulted on Tuesday on the footpath which runs along the beck at Stumps Cross in Guisborough.

The incident occurred between 3:30pm and 3:45pm when the girl was approached by four male youths aged between 13 and 14-years-old.

The males pushed the girl on the grass, and one of them who was wearing a plastic glove wiped dog faeces on her.

The males were all wearing green jumpers and ran away from the scene.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect or regarding the incident is asked to contact PC Leigh Stevens on the non-emergency number 101, Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The skills and achievements of some of Redcar and Cleveland's most inspiring pupils were recognised at a recent awards ceremony.

The event was hosted at the Inspire2Learn Eston Civic & Learning Centre by the Aspire Learning Partnership, which is made up of eight primary schools in the borough.

These are: Bankfields Primary School, Caedmon Primary School, Grangetown Primary School, Overfields Primary School, South Bank Primary School, Teesville Primary, Whale Hill Primary School and Wilton Primary School.

Staff from all of the partnership schools nominated pupils for awards in a range of categories including Citizenship, Team Player, Healthy Lifestyles and Resilience.

Thanks to sponsors, every child, including other finalists, received a trophy and a voucher of their choice for a range of activities including trampolining, cinema, bowling and climbing.

Coast & Country has announced its support for three new chosen charities.

The Redcar-based housing provider gave its staff the opportunity to nominate charities of their choice and that are close to their heart.

The top three were Macmillan Cancer Support, Teesside Hospice and South Cleveland Heart Fund.

The organisations will become Coast & Country’s corporate charities for 2016 to 2019.

Fundraising has already started for the new charities – the first event being a quiz night which was held at The Vault Restaurant in Marske.

The charities and Coast & Country staff are working in close partnership to plan future fundraisers to help raise as much money as possible.

Coast & Country has donated more than £16,000 to its previous charity partners.
