A round up of Local News in Redcar and Cleveland for Tuesday 30th August 2016

The Great North Air Ambulance was in action in our area yesterday after a man required assistance on Eston Nab.

The helicopter landed close to the nab at around teatime yesterday and according to eyewitnesses was at the scene for around an hour. There are unconfirmed reports that paramedics from the air ambulance were giving treatment to a man who had suffered a fall whilst walking in the area.

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after he crashed his motorbike in Middlesbrough. The incident happened 1.10pm in the Priestfields area. It's believed that the motorbike hit a bollard on the edge of the pavement on the bend where Bournemouth Avenue joins Lindisfarne Road.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said the man's injuries were being classed as serious but was unable to provide any further details. They kept the road closed for around an hour and a half following the incident to recover the bike and investigate the collision.

Thousands of people flocked to our area to enjoy the glorious Bank Holiday sunshine yesterday. Day trippers descended on the beaches at Redcar and Saltburn to make the most of the sunshine in temperatures of 23 degrees.

And the good news is that the sunshine is set to continue today, however don't get too used to it - forecasters are warning that rain is expected to return tomorrow.
