A round up of Local News in Redcar and Cleveland for Monday 12th September 2016

Fly-tippers have dumped an entire cannabis farm in a field belonging to a country estate near Guisborough.

The remains of numerous cannabis plants, boxes of heat lamps, empty fertiliser containers, ventilation tubing, and black bags full of soil were found dumped at the entrance to fields at Tocketts House, which just off the A173 close to Guisborough.

The remains of the drug-growing equipment would appear to have been dumped at some point at the end of last week in two separate piles which could indicate that two separate drop-offs were made, or that two large vehicles were involved.

The land owners of Guisborough Estate have offered a £500 reward for anyone who can help to weed out the culprits.

Anyone with any information can call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Hundreds of classic car enthusiasts descended on Saltburn yesterday for the town’s annual hill climb event.

The event saw classic cars journeying from the Cat Nab car park up Saltburn Bank and attracted a large number of spectators.

The hill climb is organised by the Middlesbrough & District Motor Club, which has run the event for a number of years.

The seaside showcase included vehicles such as a vintage Rolls Royce, and a Bentley.

The event used to be run competitively but was stopped due to road regulations.

It is now operated as a non-competitive event.

Residents in East Cleveland are being invited to attend a clothes swapping event in Skelton tomorrow.

The event, which is part of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's 'Check it before you chuck it' campaign, takes place from 10am until 12.30 tomorrow.

The organisers are inviting the public to bring along four items of clothing which they would like to swap for four other items.

It's hoped that the event, which is free of charge, will attract large numbers of residents who are hoping to have some fun with fashion.
