A round up of Local News in Redcar and Cleveland for Monday 12th December 2016.

Three people have been injured following a car crash in Eston at the weekend.

The accident is thought to have involved a taxi and a car containing a man and a teenage girl.

It happened at around midnight on Saturday close to Split Ends hairdressers on Jubilee Road.

An eyewitness said all three people were helped out of their vehicles which were billowing smoke.

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said at least one person was taken to hospital.

Burglars have broken into a Redcar pizza shop and filled a deep fat fryer with garlic sauce.

CCTV showed a gang of teenagers breaking into Pizza Pronto and stealing from the till before pouring the sauce into the fryer.

They also left the freezer open meaning the owner also lost stock and business.

The gang hit the shop twice within a fortnight after drinking on the street.

They are said to have been looking for an “easy target” to burgle, and picked the Redcar Lane takeaway.

A teenager who acted as the gang's lookout has received a suspended sentence of 12 weeks in custody.

The owner of the shop told the court he has spent his nights watching live CCTV on his mobile.

Cleveland Police have set up a dedicated cybercrime team to help protect the public when online shopping for Christmas.

They investigate all online offences - including fraud, trolling, harassment, indecent images and grooming.

They are urging the public to help prevent cybercrime by following a ten step guide to online safety.

The guide advises people to regularly updating security software, to be careful in revealing passwords and bank details on public Wi-Fi and not opening links in emails from unknown sources.

Over Christmas people should particularly careful with online shopping because cheap items may be too good to be true.
