Cleveland Fire Brigade are encouraging all students to have a think about their fire safety as part of their Fire Kills Campaign.
With new students settling in to their new accomodation, fire officers are encouraging them to take a few moments to think about what they can do to reduce any fire risks.
Tips from the brigade include not leaving cooking unattended and take extra care when frying with oil, keeping candles away from flammable surfaces, not overloading plug sockets, and being familiar with escape routes.
Fire brigade advice is that every university or college has a person responsible for fire safety, and you should speak to them if you spot a fire risk or have any concerns about safety.
