Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault which left a man with head injuries.
The 40-year-old victim was assaulted as he made his way along Borough Road near to the junction with Marton Road at around 7.45pm on Thursday 15th March.
The victim was hit over the head, potentially with a weapon, before being taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment for head injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.
A 34-year-old man and a 30-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of assault and both have been released under investigation.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Detective Constable Brian Lightowler from Middlesbrough Operational Crime Team on the non-emergency number 101.

It comes after figures for the same holiday break last year showed a 61% increase on 2016.
For Easter 2017 there were 460 deliberate fires across the Cleveland Fire Brigade area, with 160 incidents in Redcar and Cleveland.
Compared with Easter 2016 there were 161 deliberate fires across the Cleveland Fire Brigade area with 38 incidents in Redcar and Cleveland.

The Thursday before Easter is, traditionally, one of the busiest travel days of the year and the train operator plans to run nearly 1400 services, with the vast majority operating between 7am and 7pm.
