A local conservative MP has slammed five North-East Labour MPs who are calling for a “people’s vote” to be held on the outcome of the Brexit negotiations.

The group of Labour MP's, which includes Anna Turley, the MP for Redcar, say that they don't want to re-run the referendum but they do want the British people to have their say on whatever deal is brokered between the Government and the European Union.

However Simon Clarke, the Conservative MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, says such a vote is unnecessary.

Police have use their powers to seize a car which was causing a nuisance in Redcar.

Officers responded to a number of reports in relation to a vehicle being driven recklessly in the Kirkleatham ward on Wednesday.

The car was later located on Langthwaite Walk and was seized using police powers.

Anyone with information in regards to the vehicle or any nuisance vehicles in the area are asked to contact the neighbourhood police team on the non-emergency number 101.

South Tees Development Corporation has played host to a VIP delegation from Heathrow as part of its bid to become a logistics hub for the London airport’s proposed expansion.

During the meeting, the airport’s representatives were taken on a tour of the Development Corporation to show the opportunities available at the 4,500-acre area, which includes the former SSI steelworks site.

The team from Heathrow, also met the area’s business stakeholders, including PD Ports, Redcar Bulk Terminal and British Steel.

The visit is part of a tour of all potential logistics hub sites around the country, to assess their suitability.
