Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is visiting our area today.
The visit comes almost a year to the day since Mr Corbyn was last in our area.
During his visit last November he was quizzed by local people about his partys policies, his views on the closure of Redcar Steelworks, and Brexit.
Mr Corbyn is expected to visit a number of locations in our area before heading back to London to participate in tomorrows Remembrance Day commemorations.
Latest Cleveland Fire Brigade figures show another big drop in house fires.
There were 65 accidental fires from April to October 2018, compared to 86 for the same period last year – a decrease of 24%
The figures also show the number of call-outs also going down. There were 1,895 incidents recorded for this period, compared to 1,982 last year, a 6% reduction
Cleveland Fire Brigade also carried out more than 10,000 Home Fire Safety Visits where firefighters checked and fitted smoke alarms.
This included nearly 2000 Safe and Well Visits where the Brigade joins forces with health partners to signpost where additional support may be needed.
A two-minute check could prevent your vehicle from being a wreck and keep you safe on the roads this winter.
The free check-ups have been organised by Cleveland Fire Brigade and take place at Coulby Newham Fire Station today between 10am and 4pm.
The event launches the Brigade’s Winter Driving Safety Campaign that will be encouraging all road users to plan ahead and be ready for the additional challenges that the winter months can bring to a journey.
The Brigade is teaming up with National Tyres and Auto Care, KwikFit and Middlesbrough Borough Council Road Safety Team to carry out the checks. The free two-minute drive-thru checks include tyres, lights, wipers, fluid levels and washer bottle. Motorists will be offered a free screen wash top up, ice-scraper and handy safety advice checklist to get prepared and keep safe on the road.
