Government figures published yeserday teatime indicate that one resident is reported to have the virus out of a local population of more than one hundred and thirty six thousand.

The affected person returned to the UK from an infected country at the end of last week and is currently in hospital.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have issued information for businesses during the current coronavirus outbreak.

Posting on their Facebook page, they say that it has come to their attention that businesses are being approached by people claiming to be from Tees Valley Combined Authority asking for information on Business Rate Relief. However this is a scam.

The council's advice is not to give out any information on your Business Rate Relief to any third party.

Tees Valley Combined Authority, will never ask for your Business Rate Relief information.

School leaders have said that they are extremely disappointed after a local academy school was rated 'inadequate' by Ofsted.

Rye Hills Academy in Redcar was inspected by Ofsted in January, and bullying was highlighted as an area of concern, along with leadership and management, and behaviour and attitudes.

The facility on Redcar Lane also requires improvement in the quality of education and personal development, according to the report. Rye Hills converted to become an academy in 2017, was also judged to require improvement overall.
