A further 374 covid-19 cases have been recorded on Teesside as the number of infections remains high.

Here in Redcar and Cleveland we saw the highest daily rise with 117 new cases, closely followed by Stockton with 114.

In Middlesbrough there were 90 new cases.

Walkers and runners have been urged to avoid a cliff top footpath in our area which has began to crumble following Storm Christoph.

Over the last two days, our area has been blighted by heavy rain and strong winds.

Following the heavy rain and strong winds over the past 48 hours, the Cleveland Way footpath on Huntcliff has been worn away.

Large chunks of the footpath are now falling, leaving it in a dangerous condition.

A spokesperson for Redcar and Cleveland Council have now closed the collapsed section of the path while officers inspect the site and are urging people to avoid the surrounding area for their own safety.

A man has been arrested after driving under the influence of drugs in our area.

On Wednesday afternoon police spotted a Vauxhall Astra, which they suspected to have no insurance, on Fabian Road in Eston, and they stopped the vehicle to speak to the driver.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drugs and using a motor vehicle on a road without insurance.

The man was later released under investigation, whilst enquiries continue.
