A further 340 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed on Teesside in the past 24 hours.

The latest Public Health England figures show that Stockton had the highest increase of 124 and remains the area with the most people being diagnosed with the virus.

Middlesbrough recorded 108 new cases, whilst here in Redcar and Cleveland there were 74 new confirmed cases.

The town has now recorded over 9,500 cases with an increase of 108.

 

Police have seized nearly a quarter of a million pounds worth of cannabis from a property in Redcar.

Around £240,000 worth of cannabis was found at the property on Cleveland Street yesterday.

Officers from the Redcar Neighbourhood Team executed the drugs warrant and 268 cannabis plants were seized in total.

The warrant was conducted after receiving intelligence from the local community.

Officers have issues a warning after a number of reports of thefts of airbags from vehicles in our area.

Police are warning owners of Vauxhall Vivaro vehicles and Renault vans to be vigilant after the Force has received two reports of air bags being stolen from these brands of vehicles.

Last year the Force received seven reports of air bags being stolen from vehicles in Redcar and Cleveland.

Police are advising owners to ensure vehicles are locked and alarmed, and parked in well lit areas with CCTV.
