The latest figures have confirmed a further 73 new coronavirus cases on Teesside in the past 24 hours.

The latest figures, released by Public Health England yesterday, show that Stockton recorded the highest increase with another 25 people contracting coronavirus.

In Middlesbrough there have been a further 18 new cases, whilst here in Redcar and Cleveland there have been a further 17.

It's been announced that a new Covid-19 community testing facility is set to open in South Bank.

Residents of Greater Eston will be able to help protect the people they love when the community Covid-19 testing facility opens next week.

The lateral flow tests – which produce results in around 30 minutes and are sent directly to your mobile phone number or email address – will be available at Golden Boy Green Community Centre in South Bank from Monday.

The tests are available for anyone aged 18 years or over - irrespective of where they live – and who are not displaying Coronavirus symptoms.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a two-year-old boy was in collision with a car in Middlesbrough.

The incident took place on Friday between 7 and 7:30pm on Ayresome Street, near to Sacred Heart Primary School, when a silver or grey vehicle struck the boy and failed to stop at the scene.

The boy suffered a broken leg and minor facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Anyone who may have private CCTV or dash cam footage which may assist with the investigation is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.
