The air ambulance was called out after a person fell ill outside a pub in Redcar on Saturday.
The individual became unwell outside The Stockton pub on the High Street in Redcar just before 7pm on Saturday night.
The North East Ambulance Service was called and requested help from the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
They sent two ambulances to the scene of the medical incident, where an off-duty nurse was in attendance.
The air ambulance arrived just after 7.30pm and assisted the ambulance service.
The patient was taken by road ambulance, with support from the doctor, to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

The A19 Southbound near to Middlesbrough had to be closed following a collision which took place around half past midnight on Saturday morning.
Officers were in pursuit of a black Audi in Middlesbrough, when the vehicle drove down a slip road in the wrong direction and collided with a Peugeot 208.
The driver of the 208 was taken to hospital for treatment, and injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
The 31-year-old driver of the Audi was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and drug driving and is in police custody.
Three other men, aged 37, 34, and 22, who were passengers in the car were also arrested in connection with the incident.
A 39-year-old man, who was also a passenger in the vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening leg injuries.
A mandatory referral will be made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to the collision happening after a police pursuit.
The volunteer crew of the Redcar RNLI lifeboats were called into action yesterday afternoon.
Both lifeboats based at the RNLI station at Redcar were launched just before 3pm to assist with a police incident.
Further details of the incident have not been made public.
The crews returned to the lifeboat station a short time later.
