Priorymen comeback not enough in Guisborough goalfest.
Guisborough were narrowly edged out in a seven-goal thriller at the KGV with visitors Durham City in the Northern League First Division.
By Guisborough Town manager Chris Hardy
Saturday saw a home defeat in a game that had us 2.0 down at half time in a opening forty five minutes that should really of had us with more to show for our efforts.
Today saw a missed opportunity to take all three points with defensive errors and missed scoring opportunities.
First half we seemed to be in control for the most part, scoring a well worked goal, but unfortunately we were subject to late goals in the dying stages meaning we went into the half time interval 2:1 down.
Second half started in the same fashion, showing some good controlled possession but unfortunately we were subject to some poor were defending which eventually saw the scoreline at 4:1. The lads however made a fist of the remainder of the game and managed to get the score back to 3:4 and this is how the game finished.
On reflection this game proved to be a missed opportunity to secure all three points, from being in a winning position and controlling the game for the best part, unfortunately when giving away soft goals and not converting our own opportunities this creates a platform for disappointment.
