It's been announced that the long-awaited reopening of Saltburn’s cliff tramway is happening today - just in time for the town’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The iconic landmark opened in 1884 and is one of the region’s most popular attractions, however it has been closed since the first national covid lockdown.
In October last year, the Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council said that they planned to have the tram running again in time for Easter this year, however this was delayed when an issue was spotted during a routine maintenance test last month.
Payments for the cliff lift will be cash-only for the time being, and the council say that booking in advance is recommended.
