A man has been sentenced to more than 3 years in prison and disqualified from driving for over 6 years after pleading guilty to two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drug driving after a collision which injured two children.

Dale Carter, aged 30, of Cotswold Avenue in Middlesbrough, was riding a motorbike on Premier Road in Middlesbrough on 6th April last year under the influence of drugs with an 11-year-old pillion passenger when he collided with a parked car, leaving the boy with significant head injuries.

His 11-year-old passenger sustained life changing injuries which required hospital treatment at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

A six-year-old boy suffered an ear injury requiring surgery.

Dale Carter pleaded guilty to two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drug driving.

He was sentenced on Tuesday to 3 years and 3 months in prison and a driving disqualification lasting over 6 years.

Two people have been arrested and suspected drugs recovered after a vehicle allegedly stolen in a burglary was sighted by eagle-eyed police officers.

Officers received a report of a burglary on Wednesday morning around 6:50am on Southwood in Coulby Newham, whereby an Audi A7 and cash were stolen from an address.

On-duty armed response officers spotted the suspected stolen vehicle whilst on patrol in the Hartburn area of Stockton around 4am yesterday morning, and when they attempted to stop it the driver made off from police and headed towards the Billingham area at speeds of over 100mph.

A short pursuit took place before the vehicle came to a stop on Portrack Lane when it lost a tyre.

Two males aged 16 and 21 were arrested and a machete and suspected drugs were recovered from the vehicle.

Funding which will transform Guisborough Town Centre was today welcomed by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.

Just under £20million will be invested for key projects in the Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland constituency following a successful bid for the Government’s Levelling Up Fund.

This was pulled together jointly by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and Middlesbrough Council.

The Levelling Up Fund is a £4.8bn pot to fund capital investment and local infrastructure projects across the UK. Local councils from different constituencies pulled together their bids to apply for funding which was then endorsed by their Member of Parliament.

The final decision was then taken by Government on which were granted money.
