A van driver has been taken to hospital following a crash between a bus and a van.

The incident took place near the A174, with police being called to Wilton Village Lane at around 12.25pm after a bus and Citroen Berlingo van collided.

Cleveland Police confirmed the van driver was taken to hospital, with his injuries not believed to have been serious.

The North East Ambulance Service said one person was taken to the James Cook University Hospital, with two others - who were checked over at the scene - being taken to hospital by family members.

The volunteers of the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team have released details of their latest rescue.

On Saturday morning the team were called to assist with the extraction of a hiker, to the east of Guisborough.

He was a member of a walking party from the Newcastle area and had fallen on an icy stretch of the Cleveland Way, sustaining a painful knee injury.

A first responder paramedic administered some strong pain relief to the casualty.

Team members then strapped and splinted his left leg before lifting him onto a rescue stretcher and carrying him to a waiting ambulance for onward treatment in hospital.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council are asking for residents opionions on adult social care services in our area.

If you are currently receiving support from Adult Social Care arranged by the council, you may have been chosen to participate in a short postal survey.

The feedback the council receives will help shape the way that support is provided to adults and carers in the future.
