A group of youths has allegedly set a car on fire in a 'deliberate' arson attack in Middlesbrough.

Fire crews and Cleveland Police officers were called to Church Lane in Grangetown just after midnight yesterday after receiving reports that a car was well alight.

A fire engine from Redcar attended to extinguish the fire before leaving the scene just before 1am.

It has been reported that a 'group of youths' were responsible for the incident which fire officials believe was 'deliberate'.

No one was injured as a result of the incident, however the force is now carrying out enquiries to catch those responsible.

Four teenagers have been arrested after an incident in Berwick Hills.

Police responded to an assault reported yesterday around 3:55pm at Norfolk Shops in Berwick Hills.

Four teenage males aged 14, 16 and two aged 15 are currently in custody after being arrested in connection with the incident.

A 40-year-old woman and two teenagers aged 15 and 17 suffered injuries which are not believed to be serious.

Enquiries are ongoing and any witnesses are asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

Fire crews have attended a large barn fire on the outskirts of Stokesley.

Just before 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon firefighters were called to a significant barn fire on the outskirts of Stokesley towards Tanton Bridge along with five further fire engines and a water bowser.

Crews attempted to extinguish the fire with four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets as well as 45mm and 70mm hoses.

The fire has continued to burn overnight and is expected to continue to burn this morning.
