A section of the A174 had to be closed near Hemlington as police deal with an incident last night.
Cleveland Police has confirmed officers and other emergency services attended an incident at the Blue Bell interchange.
The bridge over the A174 and the slip road to Hemlington was closed.
Pictures from the scene show the road was blocked by police vehicles and Cleveland Fire Brigade was also in attendance at the scene.
Further details of the incident have not been confirmed at this stage.

A cordon was erected on Station Road after Cleveland Fire Brigade was called to reports of an unstable chimney on Station Road just before 7.30 yesterday morning.
Crews checked and cordoned off the road with emergency planning contacted to come and inspect.
Crew left the scene an hour later.
A driver has had to be taken to hospital after a car ploughed through a high street shop window.
Fire crews from the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Stokesley High Street on Sunday after a car had smashed through the window of a shop.
A cordon was erected around the shop by the brigade.
The incident took place next to Cooper and Baar opticians in the former Pearson's TV and Electrical site.
The driver of the car was not seriously hurt and was taken to hospital by ambulance teams.
