Two people have been taken to hospital following a crash on a main road in our area.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the A171 near Birk Brow Bank yesterday afternoon after two vehicles collided.

The North East Ambulance Service confirmed it sent two ambulance crews and a clinical team leader to the scene of the incident.

The road was closed by police on its eastbound side whilst emergency services deal with the incident.

Two people have been taken to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, with both of their conditions not currently known.

Some of our area's most vulnerable communities are to get hotspot patrols in a bid to combat antisocial behaviour.

Cleveland Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Steve Turner has secured £1 million-worth of Government funding to run hotspot patrols across the Cleveland Police area.

It's one of just 10 pilot areas in England and Wales, where patrols aim to deter offenders and provide reassurance for communities.

High visibility, uniformed patrols will operate in areas that have been identified as having high levels of antisocial behaviour.

Hotspot areas have been identified using data from the police, fire brigade and local authorities. They have chosen target areas by analysing recent and historic incidents of antisocial behaviour.

Patrols will take place within micro-site across 15 council wards in the Cleveland area.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have apologised to residents after a number of missed garden waste collections in Guisborough.

Due to staffing shortages the council were not able to collect the garden waste bins in the Galley Hill Estate and Thames Road Estate yesterday.

Residents in these areas are now being asked to present their bins first thing this morning for collection.

The council has apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked residents for their understanding.
