DEDICATED volunteers are picking and sweeping their way across Redcar & Cleveland as the ‘Big Tidy Up’ gets into full swing.

Schools, community groups and dedicated residents from across the borough are supporting the scheme, which has been running since 2008, in order to spruce up their local area.

Already, Nunthorpe Academy, Saltburn in Bloom and Friends of Borough Park have done their bit to make the area sparkle and throughout the remainder of October many
more will join them.

Redcar & Cleveland Council are supporting the ‘Big Tidy Up’ by aiding volunteers to register online at www.thebigtidyup.org where they will receive a free kit, which includes tabards, posters, leaflets and bags.

The council’s neighbourhood teams are also assisting in the litter picking with the teams also disposing of all the bags of litter collected during the course of the day.
