Police are reminding members of the public to remain vigilant after several incidents of thefts from motor vehicles in our area.
Since Christmas, there have been 40 reports of thefts from motor vehicles in in the Longlands and Grove Hill areas of Middlesbrough, with windows being smashed in some circumstances to gain entry to the vehicles.
Officers would advise people not to leave items on show such as loose change, sunglasses and satellite navigation systems, which could be attractive to opportunist thieves. Keeping doors and windows secure can also deter those who want to commit crime.
Neighbourhood team officers have been carrying out increased patrols in the area and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them by calling Cleveland Police on 101.
