A man has appeared in court charged with ten counts of theft from a shop in Redcar.
A 31-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday after police responded to a report at 5.20am of the theft of lead from the roof of a commercial premises in Redcar town centre.
Officers immediately searched the High Street area, stopping a man nearby just moments later.
He was arrested and questioned regarding a number of previous alleged thefts from shops.
The man was charged with ten counts of theft from a shop and appeared at court yesterday.
Two women have been arrested following a knife-point robbery in Hemlington.
At approximately 10.15pm on Tuesday two women entered a shop on The Viewley Centre armed with a knife, and threated a member of staff to open the till.
When the staff member refused, the pair then stole alcohol and cigarettes from the store before fleeing.
After conducting CCTV enquiries police located two women, aged 41 and 46, and they were both arrested on suspicion of robbery.
They were both taken into custody for further questioning.
Two cars were left damaged after a crash near a local hospital yesterday.
Just after 1.30pm yesterday emergency services were called to Marton Road, near the entrance to Roseberry Park Hospital, following a two-vehicle collision.
The crash is believed to have taken place at the traffic light junction on the busy Middlesbrough route.
Two cars, a Range Rover and a BMW, were involved in the incident.
Police, ambulance, and fire crews all attended the scene.
It is not believed that anyone was seriously injured in the incident.
