A man has appeared in court after a large number of thefts across our area.

The 23-year-old man appeared at court after being charged with 18 thefts which occurred across Redcar, Saltburn and Marske, and also one count of handling stolen goods.

He was arrested on Tuesday by officers from Redcar's Neighbourhood Policing Team and appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Police have released an image of a man they want to speak to following reports a woman in her 20s was raped.

The alleged attack took place in the Wilson Street area of Middlesbrough around 2.00am on Sunday, February 25.

Cleveland Police have posted the image on their website and Facebook page and say that they believe the man may be able to assist with their enquiries.

He is described as a black male, possibly aged in his mid-thirties, with dreadlocks, wearing a black and white shirt and black jeans.

Anyone who may have information regarding the identity of the man in the image is asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

Plans have been approved for a sustainable aviation fuel plant at Teesworks.

Last July, Willis Lease Finance Corporation (WLFC) and subsidiary Willis Sustainable Fuels (UK) Limited lodged proposals with Redcar and Cleveland Council for a multi-million-pound refinery at Dorman Point. 

The global aviation services group released images showing the scale of the development late last year.

Planning approval has now been granted for the project, which is expected to produce 20 million litres of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) a year and has the potential to cut CO2 emissions by up to 85% when compared with traditional petrol-based aviation fuel.

This fuel is intended to supply airlines at Teesside Airport.
