Three men have been charged with in connection with a reported incident in Grangetown on Tuesday evening;
Two further arrests have been made in connection with an ongoing investigation into a robbery in Park End;
...and the new Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland has been officially invested at a special investiture ceremony.
Three men have been charged with in connection with a reported incident in Grangetown on Tuesday evening.
The three men aged 42, 44 and 52 have now been charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life or enable another to do so and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life or enable another to do so.
All three men appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court yesterday.
A 21-year-old man who suffered serious injuries remains in hospital whilst receiving treatment.
Two further arrests have been made in connection with an ongoing investigation into a robbery in Park End.
Two males aged 14 and 15 have been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail.
The incident happened around 3:40pm on Tuesday 28th May, when a 51-year-old man suffered injuries caused by a vehicle after he was robbed outside the Family Shopper on Overdale Road.
A group of males who were outside the shop approached the man inside his black Skoda and proceeded to grab cash from him.
He was dragged under his vehicle in the struggle, where it rolled back over his leg, causing a suspected break. The man was taken to hospital for treatment.
Three other boys aged 16, 16 and 17 were also arrested in connection with the incident; the 16-year-old boy has been bailed whilst enquiries continue and two others were arrested but later released with no further action.
The new Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland has been officially invested at a special investiture ceremony.
Mayor Neil Bendelow who was an elected councillor for South Bank between 2015 and 2019, and was re-elected in the 2023 election, said that to be elected as Mayor is a great honour and privilege and he is looking forward to being a good ambassador for our area.
He will be raising money for local charity Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice based in Normanby, and also for St John’s Church in South Bank, which needs £10,000 towards a new roof.
The new Deputy Mayor is Cllr Ian Hart who was elected to represent the Ormesby ward in 2023.
