Resurfacing work will begin at the end of October on a stretch of the A174 near Skelton and is likely to cause some disruption.

Marske Lane and Apple Orchard Bank will be closed between Skelton Castle Roundabout and Four Lanes End between 7.30am til 6pm each day from Sunday 26th October until Friday 31st October. A signed diversion will take traffic via Skelton Ellers on the A173, through Dunsdale and Yearby Bank on the B1269 to the A174 Redcar / Marske Bypass.

Councillor Helen McLuckie, the Cabinet Member for Highways, Planning & Transport said “We apologise for the inconvenience this closure could cause for motorists travelling in the borough. However, we are confident that after these works are completed road users will see a noticeable upgrade to our transport infrastructure.”

Engineers say that they don't foresee the works continuing after Halloween as long as the weather permits.
