Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has issued an update following an incident which caused the lake at Locke Park in Redcar to empty during the week.

The council says they are working to ensure the Lake is refilled and at its correct level as soon as possible with repairs being carried out.

The main priority is to protect the wildlife and supporting the businesses within the park.

The Lake is filled from the storm overflow system from nearby culverts and is slowly now refilling.

The council says it will be replacing the current sluice gate with a more secure one as soon as possible and will be monitoring the area over the weekend.

An appeal is being made for any small domestic electricals that are in good condition, but that you no longer use.
