A group of East Cleveland primary school students showed off their talents at Gisborough Hall yesterday evening at the launch of a new video they have made in partnership with Teesside University.

The launch of the RESPECT video by students at St Bede’s Primary School in Marske was a well attended affair, with Professor Graham Henderson, CBE and Deputy Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Kathryn Salveston, CBE from the Jumbulance Trust, School Governor Stuart Myers, born with a disability and Middlesbrough Football player George Friend being some of the speakers at this fantastic event.

The mid point of the evening saw the audience of invited guests, businesspersons and families of the students give a standing ovation to the fantastic video which invited people to be a HERO (Help Everyone Respect Others) and also the lively remix of Pharrell Williams ‘Happy’ with a dancing and singing number- again all about respecting others.

We spoke to invited singer, X-Factor star and local girl Kerrianne Covell who said “When I was younger I was quite bullied... there’s nothing worse than being on your own in a playground, I think this evening is one of the greatest things ever”.

It is hoped that the video will be used in schools to try and improve relationships between students and as a teaching aid for members of staff.

X-Factor star Kerrianne Covell talks to Zetland FM about the importance of respecting other people:
