Redcar Constituency MP Ian Swales has today praised those who took part in the campaign to stop a wind turbine being built at Turners Arms Farm near Yearby.

After discussions with Ian Swales MP, developers of the proposed site near the conservation village have now cancelled their plans to build the turbine following strong local opposition.

Commenting, MP Ian Swales said: “It’s great to see that the power of local people is still a force to be reckoned with following the decision by developers not to build the turbine near Yearby.

“Our area welcomes renewable energy investment in sensible locations which do not impact on areas of natural beauty or residential property. These proposals were clearly not suitable being so close to a conservation area and to Redcar’s green air strip.

“This is not the end of the campaign though and I shall continue to support the team in opposing the other nearby proposal for two giant turbines near Kirkleatham roundabout.”
