Over the past few weeks a team of people led by the Friends of Grangetown (FROG), in partnership with Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, the Fire Service and Coast and Country Housing have been visiting some of the older members of the community to find out about how they feel about living in Grangetown and what services would they like to be offered.

As a thank you for taking part in the survey, a Christmas party has been organised as a celebration because it seems the residents of Grangetown love living in their town and are proud to be part of such a caring community.

The party will take place on Thursday 11 December at Grangetown Neighbourhood Centre.  Our special guests will be treated to a hearty homemade party tea and entertained by the Back Street Theatre Company as well as lots of other fun entertainment.

Cllr Lynn Pallister, cabinet member for housing and neighbourhood renewal, said: “We have had so much fun learning what our older residents get up too.  A report will be compiled once we have collated all the information and that will help us develop services accordingly but we know already that the majority of the people we have spoken to have very active lives and caring family and friends.

“Can I also say a thank you to Tesco for their raffle prizes, Coast and Country for the lovely cakes & hampers and the North East Ambulance service who, through their contract with FROG, enabled us to pay for the buffet and entertainment.”
