A group of local dairy farmers' wives were out in force in Redcar yesterday to highlight the discrepancy in the milk price paid to some dairy farmers compared to imported milk.

Andrea Chapman of the The Dairy Girls, who farms near Great Ayton and her fellow farmers' wives were gathering signatures in Redcar Marketplace yesterday and were accompanied by Dimples the real life calf, who is destined to become a dairy cow.

Mrs Chapman said that the margins paid by supermarkets to farmers need to increase.

They are encouraging the public to sign the online petition to get the Government to force a change in the pricing structure before more farmers go out of business. You can see more here
