Redcar publicans Russ and Sarah Clark are celebrating after winning a Community Heroes Award at a prestigious national ceremony on Tuesday night (6th Oct).

Organised by pub chain Enterprise Inns and now in it's fourth year, the Community Heroes Awards celebrate the vital role publicans and their pubs play in enhancing the lives of local people and 2015 saw a record number receive prize money to plough back into their local communities.

The Cleveland Bay at Redcar East walked off with the Regional Award and £3,000 to spend on future community projects at the on Tuesday night in Blackburn, Lancashire.

Enterprise CEO Simon Townsend, presented prizes to the national winner and runner-up, and to the 18 regional winners, said: “We received a record 426 entries this year, all of them superb examples of great community pubs run by dedicated publicans, and all doing their bit for the communities they’re part of.”

Speaking on Zetland FM last night (Wednesday). publican Russ said the award was "very humbling" and the prize money would be going towards providing better disabled access at the pub.
