A174 Parkway Crash Claims The Life Of Motorcyclist *UPDATED*
Investigations are continuing into a crash on the A174 Parkway on Friday morning (9th October) that has sadly now claimed the life of a 30 year man.
Emergency crews were alerted to a collision between a silver VW Polo car and silver Honda motorcycle just after 8am on the eastbound carriageway near the Flatts Lane overbridge and closed both carriageways from the Greystones Roundabout to Marton Rd to allow for crash investigation and the Air Ambulance to land.
30 year old Richard Bell from Ormesby (pictured) suffered life threatening injuries to his head, neck, pelvis and chest and required blood from a fast response medical team sent to the scene. He died from his injuries in James Cook Hospital on Saturday night. The female driver of a silver VW Polo wasn't injured.
The Parkway was closed in both directions for around 7 hours and caused gridlock on roads through the Eston, Normanby and Ormesby areas, along with knock on heavy traffic affecting the Trunk Road and the A66 as drivers found alternative routes.
Traffic Officers would like to appeal for witnesses to this collision or anyone who may have seen the motorcycle prior to it, who have not already spoken to them. Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Carlo Orsi from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 177833.
