A round up of Local News in Redcar and Cleveland for 16th November 2015.

Investigations are continuing after a brand new piece of artwork was deliberately targeted by vandals on Friday. Acklam-based artist 'Bobzilla' spent most of Thursday painting the artwork, featuring a large seagull, on hoardings next to Wilkinsons and the old Silks building on the Esplanade. Bob, who was giving his time for nothing, was due to return to finish the work on Friday. However, as we reported on Zetland FM at the weekend, during the early hours on Friday, the artwork was extensively damaged after pots of paint were poured onto its surface in an apparent deliberate act of vandalism.

Coatham Councillor Neil Baldwin told Zetland FM that he was determined the vandalism wouldn't affect plans for future artworks around the town.

Both the Redcar RNLI lifeboats were launched on Saturday evening after Cleveland Police requested assistance with the search for a man believed to have entered the sea. The lifeboats were requested just before 8.30pm after a member of the public had called the police to say he believed he had seen a man walking into the sea a few hundred yards south of the lifeboat station. A search was carried out at sea and along the shoreline until approximately 9.15pm when the police called off the search, having decided the call was a false alarm with good intent.

Hundreds of people have turned out to enjoy the 6th annual Saltburn Beer Festival. People came from across the country to attend the two-day festival which started on Friday morning and ran until 11pm last night in the Community and Arts Centre in Albion Terrace. 36 real ales were on offer across the weekend from local supplier and Yorkshire breweries, along with a number of speciality ciders and wines.

Commemorative glasses, featuring an engraving of the bandstand in Saltburn, were also available.
