Sunderland's top scorer not selected for Euro 2017 qualifier in September.

England Women's head coach Mark Sampson has announced his squad ahead of the opening Euro 2017 qualifier against Estonia and Beth Mead will have to wait a little longer to make her senior debut for the Lionesses.

Beth has scored 13 goals for the Lady Black Cats this season in 17 appearances for Carlton Fairweather's team and has also represented England at all ages from 15-23. Beth also played in England's 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup where she is remembered for a long-range goal against Mexico.

It was expected that there may have been an opportunity as Manchester City's Toni Duggan currently has an injury - yet she is named in the team. Elsewhere Toni's team-mate at City Isobel Christiansen gets her first Senior call-up, while there are returns to the squad for Jess Clarke, Demi Stokes, Amy Turner and Gemma Davison.

Gilly Flaherty and Danielle Carter have also been included, each for the second time.

However Stockton's Jordan Nobbs is being "rested" after recently coming back from a long-term injury despite a goal for Arsenal against Liverpool on Saturday
