The volunteer crew of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat have been called into action in our area.

Just before 2.30 on Saturday afternoon, the Redcar Atlantic 85 lifeboat was tasked to search for a fishing vessel that had become lost in dense fog.

The lifeboat crew, who were carrying out operational demonstrations with the Staithes & Runswick RNLI as part of lifeboat day, left to carryout a successful search.

The fishing vessel was escorted back to Redcar and the Redcar Atlantic and crew returned to Staithes to continue with the demonstrations.

The Cleveland Mountain Rescie team were called into action in our area at the weekend.

Just after 12.30 on Saturday lunchtime, the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust contacted the Team regarding a man who had been taken ill not far from Captain Cook’s Monument.

Team members headed to a rendezvous point at Gribdale Gate carpark, and upon arrival they took one of their Land Rovers up the track that leads towards the monument.

The ambulance crew was already attending to the casualty, and he was later walked to the Land Rover, driven back down to the carpark and transferred to the ambulance.

Police have made a number of arrests in connection with the off-road bikes incident from last weekend.

Last Sunday a large group of people on off-road bikes carried out antisocial driving in Middlesbrough and Redcar.

Since then Cleveland Police has been gathering intelligence and information to identify those believed to be involved and hold them to account.

Today officers from our Neighbourhood Police Teams and the Operational Support Unit have carried out early morning warrants in the Middlesbrough and Redcar areas for those identified as suspects.

There were multiple arrests, and off-road and quad bikes were also seized.

Officers say that their work is ongoing, and further arrests and the seizure of vehicles will continue.

Anyone with information regarding those riding off-road bikes or those storing them is asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
