Police have launched an investigation after a body was found in a stream in Guisborough.

Officers were called yesterday morning after a member of the public reported seeing the body.

It was in a stream near the Bow Street Centre off Whitby Road.

So far no details have been released about the gender or age of the person.

A man who threw a firework into a Redcar living room has been sent to a young offenders institute.

Lewis Watson committed the arson on Halloween last year.

He smashed the window of a home on Kirkleatham Lane with a brick and then threw a firework in.

It caused a fire and a man, woman and teenage boy had to flee the home.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

Watson pleaded guilty to the act and has been sent to an institute for young offenders.

Residents are invited to Kick off the Summer in Redcar over the weekend.

The event will take place over four days and will celebrate summer with children's entertainment, sand sculpting and a continental market.

This year the event will be based on the grass area in front of Tuned In.

There’ll also be family workshops, a bar and food will be available.

The event will be on from Friday 26 til May 29 from 10:00am until 4:00pm.
