Police are appealing for information after a number of lead thefts in the Bankfields area of Eston.

Five thefts took place overnight from Sunday 31st December into Monday 1st January.

All the incidents were in the Heatherfields Road area.

Anyone with information regarding the thefts is asked to contact PC Mark O’Hagan on the non-emergency number 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Employers working in key sectors in our area are being encouraged to recruit for an apprentice through a new grant scheme.

Apprenticeship Support for Employers is a new scheme provided by Tees Valley Combined Authority and offers excellent opportunities for employers in key sectors such as advanced manufacturing, chemical and process, and digital and creative, to grow and develop their workforce.

It is designed to assist employers committed to creating a new apprenticeship or progressing an existing apprentice onto a higher level.

It is hoped the new scheme will have an even greater impact by specifically focussing on growing skills and employment in key sectors that have been highlighted in Tees Valley’s Strategic Economic Plan.

The Redcar & Cleveland 'Love it' campaign has joined forces with an organisation in Saltburn to launch '2 minute beach cleans'

The campaign has teamed up with the group 'Keeping It Clean At Saltburn' in order to keep the beach looking pristine.

To help with this, staff from the council supported the group in purchasing beach clean boards which have litter pickers and rubbish bags available for anyone looking to participate.

In addition to the '2 minute beach cleans' a regular beach clean is held on the first Saturday of each month from 11am to 12pm starting at the pier car park.

All the litter picking equipment is provided, and the next event will take place on Saturday 3 February.
