The number of Coronavirus cases in our area has again shown an increase in the past 24 hours.

According to the latest figures published yesterday by Public Health England, there are currently 229 confirmed cases in Redcar and Cleveland, out of a local population of just under 137,000 people.

That's up from 223 cases yesterday.

There are currently 413 cases confirmed in Middlesbrough, a figure which has also risen, up from 407 yesterday.

The body of a man has been found in woodland in North Yorkshire.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the discovery north of Cloughton, near Scarborough, around 3.30pm on Tuesday.

North Yorkshire Police requested the assistance of the Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team to recover the body of a man.

Members of the mountain rescue team used a bell stretcher to carry the man from the scene.

A private ambulance transported the body from the scene.

A number of weapons have been seized and two arrests made following a drugs raid in Eston.

Redcar neighbourhood officers carried out a drugs warrant yesterday morning at an address on Woodcock Close in Bankfields.

Suspected drugs and a number of weapons, including samurai swords and hammers, were found during the raid.

Two vehicles were also seized.

A man and woman were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences in connection with the warrant.
