A woman has died in a fatal bungalow fire in Lingdale.

The woman in her 80s sadly passed away following the fire in the bungalow on Rosedale Gardens in the village.

Three fire engines from Guisborough, Redcar and Skelton attended the scene shortly after 8.30pm on Wednesday.

Cleveland Police confirmed the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Police have recovered two suspected stolen quad bikes from a house in Grangetown.

Officers from Eston Neighbourhood Police Team acted on residents concerns that the bikes were being used to cause nuisance in the local area.

Officers believe that the quads are stolen and a man has been arrested on suspicion of theft, and on suspicion of a burglary in Stockton.

Anyone with information on the quad bikes should call PC Wayne Pursley from Greater Eston NPT on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Local residents are being asked to separate small electrical items from everyday household waste to help prevent rubbish fires in bin wagons – and reduce the borough’s carbon footprint at the same time.

From Tuesday residents will be asked to leave small items like batteries, vape pens, remote controls and any other small electrical item in clear plastic bags for collection from the kerbside.

However if the electrical item is larger than a standard kettle, it can instead be taken for recycling to the Dunsdale Household Waste Recycling Centre.
