A missing man has been located and rescued after a night-time search by the crews of the Redcar RNLI;

...and a driver had a lucky escape at the weekend after his car caught fire after a crash on the A174.

 

A woman was has been taken to hospital after falling down an embankment in Saltburn.

Emergency services attended the Glenside area just before 4pm on Saturday afternoon and called for assistance from the coastguard and Cleveland Fire Brigade.

An ambulance, a clinical care manager and two crews from the Hazardous Area Response Team attended the scene.

Cleveland Fire Brigade were also called at 4.50pm.

A line rescue was set up by the Redcar and Staithes coastguard team to winch the woman around 20 feet up the embankment. 

She was then taken to hospital by ambulance.

 

A missing man has been located and rescued after a night-time search by the crews of the Redcar RNLI.

The two lifeboats from Redcar launched at 1.30am yesterday morning to join the hunt for the man who had earlier been reported missing in the Redcar area.

The RNLI concentrated their search between Redcar and the South Gare lighthouse.

Meanwhile, a coastguard rescue team still ashore heard sounds coming from part of the shoreline close to the lighthouse.

The inshore lifeboat was tasked to investigate the sounds, according to the RNLI website.

When the crew got there, they were able to locate the missing man.

He was taken on board the lifeboat to a nearby slipway where he was placed into the care of waiting police officers.

 

A driver had a lucky escape at the weekend after his car caught fire after a crash on the A174.

The incident occurred at about 8.45pm on Saturday evening on the eastbound carriageway near the Hemlington and Coulby Newham sliproad.

A car could be seen in flames after the incident.

Two crews from Coulby Newham Fire Station attended and used breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire.

An ambulance crew was also despatched and paramedics treated one person at the scene.
