Detectives are investigating reports of two assaults  at a pub in our area.

The incidents occurred on Friday, one outside The Foundry pub in Eston and one inside.

The first report was of a serious assault outside the Foundry Public House, High Street, Eston at around 7.20pm.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with this incident but enquiries are still ongoing.

Police suspect the male victim, aged in his 20s, was hit over the head, possibly with a glass, before he was punched multiple times to the face and body. He required hospital treatment including multiple stitches for the wounds.

The second assault was at around 9.15pm and a report of three unknown males wearing balaclavas who entered the pub, hit a male victim in his 30s over the head with a hammer, and ran off.

Anyone who witnessed either incident is asked to to contact police on the non-emergency number 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The volunteer crew of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat were called into action in our area yesterday.

Just after midday yesterday the Atlantic 85 lifeboat was launched to assist broken down fishing boat.

The boat was towed to safety at Hartlepool, and the lifeboat crew were then able to return to the lifeboat station.

Officers are investigating a report of a drunken male abusing other passengers on a bus in our area.

The incident occurred on the number 63 Arriva bus, which was travelling from Middlesbrough to Redcar last Wednesday.

The member of the public reporting abuse expressed concern for a young female passenger, who they believe may also have been a victim.

Officers would like to trace this woman to check on her welfare and to offer their assistance.

The woman got off the bus in the Eston area.

Any witnesses to these incidents between around 7.30pm and 8.30pm on Wednesday on the 63 bus are asked to call police on the non-emergency number 101.
