Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a road traffic collision on the A171 where a motorcyclist sadly lost his life.

The incident occurred on Thursday at around 6.30pm on the A171, at the junction of West Lane.

The collision was between a grey VW Golf car and a black Suzuki GSXR motorbike and the motorcycle rider has sadly died.

His family are being supported by specialist police officers.

Police are asking anyone who may have dashcam footage or information which may assist their investigation to call the non-emergency number 101.

Redcar and Cleveland Council has moved to help push forward an initiative to build an arena on the Coatham Bowl site.

The Council has been asked by Coatham Arena Ltd to donate the land to the company and, in considering that, the Council had asked the company to provide a business case, a feasibility study on whether it is possible to build an arena of that size on the site and a valid planning application.

The site has been earmarked as a site for parking as part of the wider plans to develop the seafront at Coatham, but the Council has paused any work on the site for the remainder of this year to allow the company to prepare the documentation.

More than 150 ambassadors will help showcase Redcar and Cleveland as a fantastic place in which to live, enjoy and do business next week.

The newly-opened Kirkleatham Walled Garden will host the Redcar and Cleveland Ambassador Showcase, which will highlight the huge positivity in the area through local businesses and organisations exhibiting their work, and panel presentations featuring senior figures from business, tourism, housing, education and the public sector.

The event is open to all Redcar and Cleveland Ambassadors; and new members are welcome to join the scheme.

The event, which is taking place on Thursday 16 September from 9am - 1pm, will be opened by the Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland, Cllr Carole Morgan, and all attendees will have the opportunity to network with people from across sectors and gain free access to the Walled Garden.
