Redcar and Cleveland Council is raising again a Green Flag Award at Flatts Lane Woodland Country Park and Guisborough Branch Walkway.

Over the past 18 months our parks and green spaces have played a vital role for people through lockdowns as places to relax, exercise and meet friends and family safely.

The news that Flatts Lane Woodland Country Park and Guisborough Branch Walkway have once more achieved the Green Flag Award is testament to the hard work and dedication of the teams that make the green spaces great so that everyone can enjoy.

In celebration of this year's announcement, Green Flag Award is asking buildings and monuments around the UK to use the hashtag #GoGreenForParks today to show appreciation for the spaces that mean so much to people.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen has announced that he will be joining the Government’s Global Investment Summit 2021 next week to push for further investment in new net zero clean technologies in the region bringing more well-paid jobs to Teesside.

The one-day event at London’s Science Museum on Tuesday will be hosted by HM The Queen and Prime Minister Boris Johnson and supported by other members of the Royal Family.

It will see global business leaders, industry experts, Ministers and other representatives come together, with the aim of securing foreign investment in UK green industries of the future.

More Covid vaccinations and boosters are set to be available at the Council's latest pop-up vaccination clinic.

After the success of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's Covid vaccination scheme this summer, during which 1626 people were jabbed, the team are back – this time at Grangetown this coming Wednesday.

This time, the council team will be operating from a mobile vaccination unit at Grangetown United & Community Hub, supported by the Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

No appointments are necessary; anyone aged 16 or over can turn up between 9am and 6:30pm to receive their first or second Pfizer vaccine.

If you're having your second jab, please ensure that 8 weeks have passed since your first.
