A woman has been left shaken after a gang on bikes tried to rob her of her handbag in Marske.

The incident happened on Redcar Road, between Hall Close and Marske High Street on Saturday.

Cleveland Police say a young woman was approached by a group of around four males on bikes between 11am and 11.10am.

They pushed her and tried to take her handbag from her.

The young woman was left shaken, but fortunately was uninjured.

The unknown males were all on mountain bikes, wearing black clothing. One of the bikes was black with white writing down the side.

The group made off in the direction of Windy Hill Lane.

Any witnesses are asked to contact Redcar CID via the non-emergency 101 number.

A man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a convenience store in North Ormesby.

Two men wearing dark clothing and balaclavas were reported to have entered the Premier Shop on Kings Road at around 8pm on Wednesday.

Police said the suspects threatened a male member of staff with a knife and a piece of wood during the incident.

They then made off with the till in the direction of the Market Place.

Middlesbrough CID are investigating and on Thursday arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of robbery.

He was taken into police custody.

A weather warning has been upgraded to include wind and snow for our area as Storm Eunice sweeps in today.

The weather service is now advising it could bring disruption due to snow and strong winds in some place.

The warning has been put in to place through to 6pm this evening.

It covers most of Teesside and stretches across most areas in our region from Hartlepool down to Whitby.

There is a chance of travel delays on roads, possibly with stranded vehicles and passengers, and also a chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.
