A man has died following a crash which has left another driver in hospital in a critical condition.

The 27-year-old man, who was from Middlesbrough, was driving a Volkswagen Passat on the A172 Dixons Bank when he was killed in the collision with a Mercedes C220.

The 32-year-old driver of the Mercedes was taken to James Cook University Hospital by ambulance where he remains in a critical condition.

The crash happened close to the junctions of Captain Cook's Crescent and Grange Crescent in Marton.

Family liaison officers are supporting those close to the man who died.

Anyone with information on the collision or who saw the Mercedes prior to the incident is asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

 

A cyclist has been taken to hospital after a crash in Eston.

Police closed Church Lane after reports of a crash at around 7pm on Tuesday.

Witnesses said a man was seen lying in the middle of the road being treated by paramedics, before being taken to hospital.

It is believed emergency services left the scene at around 8.30pm.

 

A deep clean is taking place on selected streets in Boosbeck today.

The deep clean will be carried out on Oxford Street, Queen Street, and the High Street between 9am and 2pm.

In order to allow the Neighbourhood Team to carry out a thorough clean of these streets, residents are being asked to utilise any off road parking to ensure access is available for cleaning equipment.
