Police are appealing for information from the public as they investigate an incident where a man was in collision with a vehicle, which then left the scene, in the Cass House Road area of Hemlington.

A man in his 20s sustained serious injuries, including suspected stab wounds, during the incident at around 6.30am this morning.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police believe two cars may have been involved thought to be a silver Ford Focus and a black Lexus. Officers also want to hear from anyone who sighted these vehicles in the Hemlington area around the time of the incident.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who has private CCTV or dashcam footage which may have captured the incident to contact police on 101.

Emergency services are at a busy street in Middlesbrough after a traffic incident involving a Mercedes.

The vehicle reportedly flipped onto its side on Woodlands Road, near Teesside University. Police and ambulance could be seen in the area from about 12.30pm on Wednesday..

The area was busy with graduating students and their families at the time. Several police cars, including unmarked vehicles were on the road near the Victoria Road roundabout, part of which had to be closed.

An emergency exercise took place yesterday on the SABIC site at Wilton.

The alarms sounded on SABIC’s LDPE plant yesterday afternoon from 2pm due to an emergency exercise that was taking place on the site.

Residents are assured there is nothing to be concerned about, and SABIC apologised for any disturbance caused whilst the exercise took place.
