Neighbourhood policing officers have conducted extra patrols in Guisborough, after a recent increase in crime and anti-social behaviour.

Police are working with many partner agencies - in particular Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and Beyond Housing - to address issues raised by the community.

Last Friday a dispersal order was brought in for the town centre to run for the maximum permitted period of 48 hours.

Recently a 15-year-old boy from outside the Guisborough area was arrested on suspicion of breaking a window by firing a BB gun and after being interviewed he was bailed, with the condition to stay out of the town.

Another teenage boy was arrested on suspicion of burglary and criminal damage.

He was interviewed by CID colleagues and released under investigation to secure accommodation whilst inquiries are on-going.

The public are asked to report any incidents of crime, anti-social behaviour or drug activity directly to Cleveland Police via the non-emergency number 101.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a burglary in Hemlington yesterday morning.

The incident happened around 5:40am on Arrandale, when a woman awoke to two male suspects in her property, one of whom grabbed the woman's neck.

One of the men was carrying a bladed weapon.

The suspects made off with items including jewellery and cash.

Fortunately, the woman was not physically injured, however she has been left very shaken by the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Middlesbrough CID on the non-emergency number 101.

The winners of the recent Beat the Street Redcar and Cleveland game have officially been presented with their prizes for topping the total and average points leaderboards in a special presentation.

The physical activity game took place over six weeks from March to April with just under 17,000 people taking part and walking, cycling and wheeling more than 140,000 active travel miles.

Among the winners who attended were Ings Farm Primary School who topped the total points leaderboard, and also Saltburn Scouts who came fourth on the total points leaderboard for community and workplace teams.
