Two men have been arrested in connection with alleged fatal hit and run collision in our area.

The men were arrested in West Yorkshire yesterday as enquiries continue into an alleged hit and run incident on Sunday night in which 50-year-old Justine Wedgwood from the Boosbeck area sadly died.

A 33-year-old man faces questioning on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and a 37-year-old man will be interviewed on suspicion of assisting an offender.  Enquiries are on-going.

Police are still appealing for any information concerning the location or sightings of a silver Volvo XC90 with the registration SV04 TFE.

The incident has impacted the local community and police have thanked residents for their support and assistance.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

A vehicle has become fully submerged underwater after being driven onto the beach at Saltburn.

The SUV type vehicle got stuck around 5.30pm on Tuesday as its wheels became stuck in the sand as the tide came in.

A rescue operation was launched with the RNLI and Coastguard teams called.

Despite their best efforts, the vehicle - described as a dark blue Land Rover - became submerged beneath the waves.

Crews were still at the beach at 8pm, with a second RNLI crew arriving shortly after.

Residents in our area are being invited to have a say on multi-million pound plans for Redcar.

Redcar was granted £25 million from Government to help transform the town.

The latest set of proposals include a new family activity centre and cultural hub, improvements to Station Road, the creation of a new events space, and improvements to the high street and esplanade.

The Redcar Town Board, made up of representatives from across the public and private sector, is inviting residents and business owners to have their say.
